Cuba accommodation When travelling with Cuba Travel Plan you'll usually spend the night in typical Cuban style accommodation with plenty of local flavour. As Cuba is a very warm, tropical country, you can always expect to find air conditioning in your room. If you don't mind a few crooked lamp shades and perhaps a few walls in need of a new paint job, you'll have a great time in any Cuba accommodation.Because of the communist regime, all Cuba accommodation is owned and operated by the Cuban Ministry of Tourism. During the past few years, hotel managers and hotel staff have received better training and salaries; commercial interests are gaining popularity in the country. However, this trend hasn't swept across the whole country yet. Water supply problems and electricity blackouts are still regular occurrences in Cuba, even in the Varadero beach resorts. There are emergency generators at these resorts so you won't be in the dark for too long. Most Cubans don't really think much of these problems; they just shrug it off and wait until everything is in working order once again. |

We categorise our accommodation options by using a comfort scale of 1 to 5 to rate our Cuba accommodation. Our category ratings are not official star ratings. In general, you'll stay in category 3 accommodation - comfortable, clean and full of local character. Category 3 accommodation is also well-situated without being luxurious and always has en-suite facilities. If you would like to stay in a different category of accommodation, please let us know. 1. Very basic accommodation Basic accommodation in a hut or tent with limited facilities. This type of accommodation is not offered by Cuba Travel Plan at the moment. 2. Basic accommodation Basic, yet reasonably comfortable. Private room with (in most cases) your own bathroom. |

3. Comfortable, no-frills accommodation Bungalow or room with en-suite bathroom. Generally with a very traditional atmosphere and/or at a romantic location. In most cases beautifully situated, sprawled out in a rural area, usually with a swimming pool. Most of our accommodation is this standard. 4. Very comfortable accommodation Spacious bungalow or room, stylishly decorated with extra facilities and attention to detail and comfort. In Cuba this type of accommodation is usually found at larger beach destinations and there are swimming pools at each accommodation. 5. Luxury accommodation Spacious bungalow or room with luxurious atmosphere, large bathroom, a swimming pool and additional facilities. |
